Bob’s Kitchen

I cook every day because I love it. Pull up a chair.

I have been cooking for 45 years.

I learned at the feet of the best teachers I ever had, my grandmother, my mother, and my sister. Those kitchens are where I fell in love with food. Not just eating it, but making it. Understanding it. Putting something on a plate and watching someone’s face when they take the first bite.

For a few years I worked in the food industry professionally. Then software development came along, paid better, and turned into a long career. But I never stopped cooking. Not for a single day.

Cooking is how I unwind after work. It is how I take care of the people around me. It is one of the few things in life that slows everything down for a little while.

Bob’s Kitchen is where those 45 years live.

You will find recipes I have made a hundred times and still love. You will find honest answers to the cooking questions nobody ever explains properly. You will find the gear worth buying, the restaurants worth visiting, and practical meal ideas for real life.

Most importantly, you will find Kitchen Forensics, the part of this site dedicated to figuring out why food goes wrong and exactly how to fix it. Dry chicken. Broken sauces. Gray steak. Soggy vegetables. Dense bread. The kinds of frustrating kitchen problems that make people think they are bad cooks when really nobody ever explained what was actually happening.

I am not a chef. I am not a food scientist. I am just someone who loves this more than almost anything else and has spent a lifetime figuring it out one meal at a time.

So whether you are here looking for a recipe, trying to rescue dinner, or just wandering through the kitchen with me for a while, I am glad you are here.
